There is a peacock
on Public Radio
who pronounces poem
“Poyme.”

“It’s Po-Em!” I pipe,
“You pretentious pedant!”

Yet periodically some
Plodding podunk
Pronounces it
“Pome.”

I have no problem with that.

Chalk it up to
Petty partisanship.
