The difference between poetry and comedy
Is the difference between French songs and German;
Buddhist prayers and Catholic;
A dagger and a butcher knife;
A whisper and a butcher knife;
A Buddhist and a butcher knife.

First snow of winter
gingerbreads our neighborhood

year changes:no changes
except new
numbers
and thoughts offering new
states of being
that will prove elusive
yet knowing this
knowing this
we persevere
and twelve months hence
will persevere again
which is all there is
as long as there is
forward
motion
A friend challenged another friend to write a poem every day in the coming new year. The challenge was taken up - and then passed along to yet another friend. We will be writing poetry every day. We may choose to publish it here, or we may choose to post it here but keep it private (unpublished). The choice for each poem is up to each poet. So come on. Write more poems.
